Vice President and Director
Dr. David P. Janes, Vice President and Director, is the Executive Director of the Global Citizens Initiative (GCI), a nonprofit organization based in Greenwich, Connecticut, fostering the next generation of ethical global leaders and cross-cultural understanding. With extensive experience in international education and philanthropy, Dr. Janes draws inspiration from his own study abroad journey in Japan. Previously, he held senior executive roles at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) and the United States-Japan Foundation. Dr. Janes is an active leader in various organizations promoting international exchange and cultural understanding. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil in Sociology from the New School for Social Research, an M.A. in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, an M.A. in Asian Religions from the University of Hawai‘i, Manoa, and a B.A. in Religion from the University of Mary Washington. He resides in Tarrytown, New York, with his family, sharing a passion for hiking and the outdoors.
