Dr. Elizabeth (Betty) McCoy (Director) served for 16 years, as the Montana State 4-H Leader, after her roles as State 4-H Specialist, County Extension Agent, and teacher in the Family and Consumer Science Department. She currently collaborates with the 4-H Center for Youth Development as the Chair of the Montana International Program Council, in addition to her Professional Appointment with MSU Extension. During her career, Dr. McCoy served on several boards including the National 4-H Council (which she chaired in 1998-99), the Executive Institute for Fund Development, and the International Program Review Team. Having been an International 4-H Youth Exchange delegate to Venezuela herself, she has been a long time champion of international education through personal experiences. She has received the Outstanding IFYE Award, given by the National IFYE Association for contributions to international programs, and was conferred the title of Professor Emeritus by the Montana State University Extension Service in 2002. Dr. McCoy is a Montana native; having grown up on a farm in central Montana, she went on to earn a degree from Montana State University in Home Economics and Counseling. Now retired, she and her husband have returned to working the land, putting up hay with their team of horses in an activity she calls “recreational haying.”
