Participating in LEX Language Project's Homestay Programs
LEX
Language Project's homestay program is an adventure in which you
live within another culture as a "sister" or a "son"
in a host family. You discover sounds and words by traveling to
visit people all over the world. Through experiencing being part
of the family and not a "guest" from another country,
you will develop your cultural and language growth in a natural,
immersive environment. Before departure and after returning home,
your homestay experience will grow, both when you prepare for
your trip and when you share your experience and discoveries with
your LEX or 4-H club at home.
Each
year, 2000 members from LEX programs in Japan, Korea, Mexico,
Taiwan and the U.S., travel to 25 countries on exchange. Every
exchange program started on a small scale, and has grown through
the positive interactions experienced by both hosts and visitors.
Many host families enjoyed their experiences and wanted to continue
the joy they found in LEX activities.
LEX
America organizes homestays for both LEX Language Project members
and 4-H program (youth) participants. Please click on the specific
country in the menu at the left for more information.
